Dedicated to research on the law of the sea, a new K.G. Jebsen Centre is now established in Tromsø, Norway at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway. Hosted by The Faculty of Law and in partnership with Fritjof Nansen Inistitute, the K.G. Jebsen Centre will focus on key challenges facing the Law of the Sea in the 21st century.
On March 15th the Board of Kristian Gerhard Jensen and Jantzens Fond awarded two scholarships to support trainee assignments, one in NewYork and one in London. The grantees are Lilly Kathrin Myklebust Relling and Tove Dickman Haugvaldstad, who will receive NOK 200.000 each.
The first “Beethoven Journey” recording has now been released on Sony Classical. Beethoven’s Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 3 were recorded live at the Prague Spring Festival in May 2012. In total, the project will see Andsnes perform and record all five of Beethoven’s piano concertos as well as the Choral Fantasy in the Czech capital, directing the Mahler Chamber Orchestra from the keyboard. In 2012 the International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition is held at Edvard Grieg’s home in Bergen for the first time. Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra has entered as the Orchestra for the Final Round. The Final will be arranged in the Grieg Hall in Bergen.
